The Carabus monitoring activities Carabus are ongoing

Here you can see a little movie that showsthe discovery of a radiolabelled carabus by the work team of the Department of Scienze della Vita e Biologia dei Sistemi due to the radiotelemetric techniques.
At this moment the number of Carabus olympiae captures is 80.

 

 

The monitoring activities and the experiment of breeding Carabus at the nursery are ongoing

The 2015 monitoring activities of the LIFE Carabus project were started last May. Despite the unusual snowfalls were placed traps to fall in the study areas to capture the animals for the radiotelemetric study and the breeding.
At these moments it is proceeding with the radiotelemetric studies in managed beech forests. Now 10 radiolabeled carabus are followed, the results are being good.
Recently kicked off the experiment of breeding of the species in the nursery, which was equipped with air conditioning and the first larvae are born.

Action F1: monitoring visit to the project LIFE Carabus

 

On 4 and 5 May 2015 it was held the monitoring visit by Dr. Stefania Dall'Olio, the external monitor of Neemo EEIG - Timesis. In the visit it has been assessed the progress of the project actions and the status of implementation of the goals of the project.
On the day of May 5 was carried out a visit to the project areas and the activities performed were analyzed and discussed the activities performed.

LIFE teaching with schools: Progetto B....come BIODIVERSITA'!

The first groups of students, about 220 children, were involved in the first phase of educational activities with the schools of the LIFE Carabus. The project was named Progetto B....come BIODIVERSITA'!

In these sessions
was attended the 3rd, 4th and 5th elementary schools Ronco (Trivero) Ponzone (Trivero), Gates and Quaregna (classes 2nd, 4th and 5th).

For each class were carried out two lessons in the classroom (in the months April and May 2015) and a
thematicexcursion of one-day (in May) in Valsessera about biodiversity issues, the Valsessera and the LIFE Carabus. The students have used the didactic classroom made with the project and have visited the beech woods, pastures and the teggia built by the project. Each participant received an explanatory leaflet and a pin of the LIFE Carabus.

LIFE has co-financed the project teaching, lunch, transport and
the place where we hold our activities.

The second phase in which participate other school will be
start in September.

June 19, 2015: Technical excursion of Pro Silva Italia

 

The next Friday, June 19, 2015 the North-west section of the association, Pro Silva Italia (http://www.prosilva.it/), organizes a technical excursion of the management of beech forests and reforestation of conifer in the project LIFE Carabus - Bocchetto Sessera (BI) and the forestry interventions aimed at the conservation of the species Carabus olympiae within the SIC Alta Valsessera will be present to the participants.
This is a training course accredited by the association of agronomists and forest of Piedmont and Valle d'Aosta.
