UNIVERSITY OF TURIN (DBIOS) DEPARTMENT OF LIFE SCIENCE AND BIOLOGY successfully completed the first main ACTIVITY of the project from a scientific point of view.

A year and a half of research and monitoring have produced remarkable scientific results that will be at the bases of the success of the project.

For the first time in the history of research on Carabus olympiae DBIOS researcher Matteo Negro and his staff could capture a significant number of Carabus hence paving the way for an important monitoring protocol of this species.

Carabus olympiae, steno-endemic species of Val Sessera, lives in a very small area within forest habitats. In the last century the species was threatened with extinction by collectors, but thanks to the characteristics of the habitat in which they live, that can provide shelter and food, this insect was able to overcome the phases of the population regression.
